These two original Third Reich envelopes once contained letters addressed to a man named Ernst Lieseman who resided in the small village of Bracht, just east of the Dutch border and the city of Venlo. He was the “Child Commissioner” and his address was Adolf Hitler Street 7.

The larger of the two empty envelopes measures 4 x 6-½ inches and was mailed on 12 April 1941 from the city of Gladbach. The smaller 3-½ x 6 inch envelope was mailed in Bracht on 12 April 1941. Both still have their original brown Hindenburg postage stamps.

For reference we include a “Then & Now” picture below, taken on the former Adolf Hitler Strasse in the hamlet of Bracht about ten years ago. It is where these two envelopes originated.
