This is a nice example of a big coin or token that was made in Germany in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Germany's 23rd Chancellor in Braunau, Austria on 20 April 1889.
The German Government of course, was not amused. They have done everything in their power to help people to forget that Hitler once held the job of German Chancellor just like Helmut Kohl, Gerhard Schröder and Angela Merkel. The milled edge silver plated coins were driven from the market shortly after they began to sell and we suspect that few survive.
The 1-3/8 inch (35 mm) coin was professionally struck in a fine high-relief die. The obverse features a realistic view of the right side of Adolf Hitler's face centered in the words ADOLF HITLER 1889 - 1945. The reverse has a one inch (25 mm) Hoheitszeichen or German National Emblem (eagle and swastika) encircled by the words EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER (One People, One State, One Leader).
The coin has a milled edge, is quite heavy and is in good circulated condition. Hard to find.
This commemorative Adolf Hitler coin is **SOLD**.
