Hitler’s Battle for Power, Edgar von Schmidt-Pauli
This is a fine original Third Reich example of Hitlers Kampf um die Macht (Hitler’s Battle for Power) written by World War I veteran, journalist and author Edgar von Schmidt-Pauli. This is a second expanded edition of 1933, sub-titled National Socialism and the Achievements of the Year 1932.
This 1933 Nazi book is about “Germany’s recent history” and it sheds light on Adolf Hitler’s great effort to gain power in Germany during the year 1932 which led to victory early in 1933. It explains all the obstacles in his way, behind the scenes political intrigues, long negotiations at Hitler’s Berlin headquarters in the Kaiserhof Hotel across the street from the Reichschancellery, election results, the dissolution of the Reichstag, changing national coalitions and leadership, etc.
Hitlers Kampf um die Macht, Der Nationalsozialismus und die Ereignisse des Jahres 1932
Brüning government, Franz von Papen, Paul von Hindenburg
Berchtesgaden, Hermann Goering, Braunes Haus
The author writes that it was important for German citizens to know what happened on the way to power so people would be more supportive, mentally and spiritually, of the National Socialist government in years to come.
The 5-½ x 8 inch, 206 page softcover book comes with its original dust jacket featuring Adolf Hitler and President Paul von Hindenburg. It was published by Verlag von Georg Stilke of Berlin in 1933. It is in nice used condition, but the 90+ year old dust jacket shows wear at the bottom edges where the dust jacket overlaps the bottom of the pages of the book. No odor.
After the end of World War II, Hitlers Kampf um die Macht (and several other Von Schmidt-Pauli books) ended up on the banned National Socialist literature list in East Germany as the Soviet occupiers found its content too pro-Nazi and controversial.
