Unterm Edelweiss in Jugoslawien is a 1941 Nazi photo book composed of stories of Nazi Gebirgsjäger or mountain troops in combat in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during World War II, as published by order of the General Command VII A.K. by Major Dr. Egid Gehring. The text is a compilation of dairy entries and experiences by Gefreiter Josef Martin Bauer (who became a writer and film director after World War II).
After a foreword by Generalmajor und Divisionskommandeur Hubert Lanz, Illustrations by Gefreiter Neef and Gefreiter Anton Kolnberger are interspersed in the 48 lively text pages.
There are pictures of Wehrmacht troops crossing the border in trucks loaded up with horses, blown up bridges across the Drau river, bunker to bunker fighting, disabling mines, Divisionskommandeur Lanz on the front line (shown below), Serbian and Croatian POWs, Wehrmacht supplies crossing temporary bridges, Gebirgspioniere drinking beer after conquering an important bridgehead, encounters with the local population including welcoming by ethnic Germans, treating the wounded (including Yugoslavian soldiers), ladies selling vegetables at the market in Agram (Zagreb, now in Croatia), occupying the strategically important city of Celje (now in Slovenia), battle damage, etc.

There are an additional 64 glossy pages with rare and gritty photos of Gebirgsjäger in action during the invasion of Yugoslavia (also known as the April War or Operation 25), most of them not found in other Third Reich books on the German invasion of the Balkans in the spring of 1941.

Unterm Edelweiss in Jugoslawien was published by Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachf., the Central Publishing House of the Nazi Party in Munich in 1941.
This 7-1/4 x 9-1/8 inch, 112-page softcover Nazi book is a superb memento of the campaign, in very good, little-used condition with a tight spine and no odor. The striking original color dust jacket is also in very nice condition.
