This is a fine, rare two-sided Third Reich map of of Nürnberg, die Stadt der Reichsparteitage, or “Nuremberg, the City of Nazi Party Days” published by the Verkehrsverein Nürnberg, the tourist office of Nuremberg. The colorful 4 x 8-½ inch folder contains a detailed 16 x 24-½ inch color map at a scale of 1:17500.

The map is in excellent, little-used condition. The rare original protective cover has excellent graphics but shows wear which is obvious in our photos.

The map is in very good condition without any tears. The color is still bright, not faded. It shows the Adolf Hitler Platz (Adolf Hitler Square - above) in the old medieval walled part of the city (a tiny portion of the whole map), the Albrecht Dürer house / museum, and of course the Reichsparteitaggelände or Nazi Party Day Grounds on the outskirts of the city (photo right), and the KdF City nearby. Even the Party Day marksmanship range near the South Cemetery is shown. Bus and tram routes are clearly marked as are cemeteries, the Danube Canal and Pegnitz River.

On the back of the map is the street index as well as information about things to see in Nürnberg - museums (including the Torture Chamber Museum with the Criminal History Collection), historic churches and buildings, movie theaters, bars and restaurants, dance halls and “the New Nürnberg”, the airport and Nazi Party Day Grounds. There is also practical information for visitors such as places to have your car fixed, travel agencies and the Lufthansa office, currency exchange and so on.

This Nazi map is not dated, but was clearly produced during the Third Reich, probably in 1936 or 1937, by Leonhard Ammersdorffer in Nuernberg.

Prices are shown in Reichsmarks, and the Kongresshalle on the Nazi Party Days Grounds is marked under construction (designed by Franz and Ludwig Ruff in 1935, construction was stopped when World War II broke out and the huge building was never finished).
