This is a rare original example of Ostmark Woche (Austria Week) dated 14 April 1938. The photo publication was published by the Press Office of NSDAP Gau Wien under the auspices of Gauleiter Joseph Bürckel in Vienna and is titled “The Day of National Victory”.

The 8-1/4 x 11-3/8 inch, 16 page Third Reich publication has “the representative of the Führer for the plebiscite” Gauleiter Bürckel on the front cover, pictured after he cast his vote in the 10 April 1938 Volksabstimmung. Ostmark Woche is filled with coverage of the vote for Austrian reunification with Adolf Hitler’s Germany and the results: 99.75% voted Ja!

There are pictures of famous people voting (Hitler, Bürckel and Cardinal Innitzer) but also average citizens standing in line to cast their ballot.

Additional pictures show Hitler’s historic visit to Vienna on 9 and 10 April 1938, Vienna’s mayor Dr.-Ing. Neubacher, elaborate street decorations, and Hitler at the start of the construction of the Reichsautobahn connecting Vienna with Salzburg.

This historical 87 year old Anschluß publication is complete. The paper has yellowed a bit, but this 1938 example of Ostmark Woche Nr. 15 was stored flat and is in nice used condition. No odor.
Ostmark Woche also has striking advertising by Deutsche Reichspost, Bayer, Deutsche Reichsbahn, IG Farben, as well as Ford and Adler cars.
