This April 1939 issue of Nachrichten aus dem XVII. Armeekorps contains articles about the Nazi take-over of Bohemia and Moravia. There is a day-to-day calendar of events / progress, copies of military orders, eye witness reports, official declarations by Reichsprotektor Böhmen und Mähren, Konstantin Freiherr von Neurath, Czech president Dr. Emil Hacha and Slovak President Dr. Josef Tiso.
Photos show the Wehrmacht troops on the move in Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, Adolf Hitler during his visit in the industrial city of Brünn (now Brno), the Musikkorps der I. Marine-Artillerieabteilung as well as ski races during the SS and SA Ski Championships The article about the SS- und SA-Wettkämpfen that accompanies the ski photos was written by Leutnant Hermann of Panzerabwehr-Abteilung 45.
This is the April 1939 issue of Nachrichten aus dem XVII. Armeekorps, a heavily illustrated 9 x 12-¼ inch, 20-page publication published in cooperation with the Generalkommando with updates and photos of the 17th Army Corps.
The Wehrmacht XVII. Armeekorps was formed after the Anschluss in Vienna on 1 April 1938. It participated in the 1939 invasion of Poland, the invasion of France in 1940, and Operation Barbarossa. During the invasion of the Soviet Union it was part of the German 6th Army and fought in the Ukraine, Bessarabia and Hungary, eventually ending in Silesia where all surviving troops became Russian POWs.
Lots of advertising by the NSV, uFa (for their new movie Drei Unteroffiziere), companies in Vienna selling cars and trucks, Nazi uniforms, Nazi typewriters, marching compasses as well as builders and building supply companies.
Published by Wehrmacht-Presse Verlag Reif & Co. of Berlin, this rare 79 year old example of Nachrichten aus dem XVII. Armeekorps is complete and somehow survived in good used condition. Nothing has been cut out or torn out and there is no writing on any of the pages. No odor. Spine is scotch taped.
