Unsere Flieger is a hard-to-find Nazi photo book about the German Luftwaffe, aviation, aircraft, aviations ports, air traffic, aeronautical engineering, etc. with 133 pictures.
According to the foreword, the material for this book was assembled in peace time but when it was released, “Germany was in the midst of a decisive battle for its survival and future” as the “politics of peace of the Führer had been sabotaged.” The success of the Luftwaffe in Poland in the fall of 1939 was a direct result of the enormous build-up of the German Air Force by “Hitler’s faithful paladin Hermann Göring” since 1935, the authors state. This book encompasses the comprehensive effort involved in the creation of the Luftwaffe and all the men involved, on the ground and in the air, all working for the Führer and the Nation, and for our Eternal Germany! |

Unsere Flieger was written by Heinz Orlovius and H.G. Schulze and the 7-½ x 10 inch softcover book has 120 photo-filled glossy pages. The photos were provided by Hoffmann, Scherl, Atlantik, Deutsche Lufthansa, the NSFK, and airplane manufacturers like Messerschmitt, Junkers, Focke-Wulf, Arado, Dornier, Heinkel, Fieseler, Blohm & Voß, Henschell, BMW, Siebel, and all were officially approved by the RLM, the Reichsluftfahrtministerium in Berlin.
The pictures include close-ups of airplane engines and cockpits of fighter planes and sea planes, zeppelins, airplanes under construction, navigators and reconnaissance pilots,
Stukas, pilots and paratroopers, Luftwaffe machine guns and bomb attacks, 250 kg bombs and Flakartillerie, military barrage balloons, NSFK sailplane championships, Tempelhof Air Field in Reichshauptstadt Berlin, a Lufthansa Ju 90 transport plane, etc., etc. The caption for one of the pictures of a twin engine camouflaged German war plane says it shows “eine Fliegende Festung” or Flying Fortress and there is even a photo of a German Blohm & Voss Ha 139, “the colors of the Third Reich” flying over the skyscrapers of New York City!
The cardstock cover of Unsere Flieger has been protected by the original dust jacket since the end of the Third Reich, and a previous owner laminated it to prevent further deterioration. The book is in nice used condition with the name of a dentist in Altötting (east of Munich) stamped inside the front cover. No odor.
Published by M.A. Klieber Verlag Berlin in 1939, this 85 year old Nazi aviation photo book has a 1939 “War Christmas” dedication in ink on the front flyleaf. It shows the book was given by a serving member of the Wehrmacht to his three sons.
This 1939 Nazi aviation photo book Unser Flieger is offered for sale
for $195.00 delivered by Media Mail in the continental USA.
