DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN (GERMAN STATE RAILWAY) TICKETS USED BY SOLDIERS OF THE GERMAN WEHRMACHT DURING WORLD WAR II

This is an original Wehrmachtfahrkarte or train ticket for a member of the Nazi Armed Forces. It was used by a Nazi soldier to travel from Vienna (Greater Germany’s second largest city) to Reichenberg on 19 July 1944. The 6.40 Reichsmarks was for the 423 km journey via Retzbach, Schönwald, Iglau, Kolin, Dobrowitz, Jungbunzlau to Reichenberg by Third Class!

Today Reichenberg is called Liberec and is located in the Czech Republic, 50 miles north-east of Prague. In 1939 it became the capital of Reichsgau Sudetenland, and the residence of Gauleiter Konrad Henlein, the founder and leader of the SdP, the Nazi Party of Sudetenland.

This is a Kleiner Wehrmacht Fahrschein, a two-sided 4 x 5-¾ inch military train ticket issued to Schtz. Gottfried Katzian a member of Lds. Schtz. Btl. 893. The train ticket was issued on 6 January 1942 and has the round Nazi eagle and swastika stamp of the Landesschützen-Bataillone 893 in the lower left corner of the front side, as well as the signature of the Hauptmann who issued it.

It was used for a train trip from Tieberschlag (now Lomy in the Czech Republic, just north of the Austrian border) to a town we can not decipher.
